Emma leads the team responsible for developing the Department for Education’s Teacher Recruitment and Retention Strategy. Following launch of the DfE strategy in January 2019, her work focusses on understanding how the department needs to go further to support recruitment and retention challenges. In previous roles, Emma has lead on other education policies including Initial Teacher Training and the academies system. Emma began her career as an English teacher in the West Midlands.
