Abi has over 20 years experience in accountancy, general management and finance. Abi’s skillset also includes HR, IT, premises, project management and education Management. She began her career in banking as a member of the central Financial Control department where she streamlined and improved processes before moving on to become a money market trader. She became a chartered accountant during this period before relocating and successfully rebuilding her career in different sectors.
Abi successfully project managed the opening of a few academy trusts including London Academy of Excellence Stratford, an outstanding free school voted The Sunday Times Sixth Form College of the Year in 2015. In her role as business director at LAE, Abi ensured financial viability; successfully established financial systems; built up reserves despite a funding reduction. She began working as a School Resources Management Adviser (SRMA) with the DfE from the pilot phase.
Abi is a fellow and member of the Advisory Panel of the Institute for School Business Leadership (ISBL) and the Policy Group, a volunteer SEN legal adviser with a national charity and a governor of a residential special school in Kent.
